Sudden Attack Zero Point Game Modes
Bomb Defusal, TDM, Practice, and Bot matches — what each mode teaches and when to queue it.
Sudden Attack Zero Point ships Steam Early Access around July 29–30, 2026 (app 3576070) with four distinct ways to play before Season 2 adds Vampire Mode on the 2026 Roadmap. At launch the competitive spine is Bomb Defusal and Team Deathmatch, backed by Practice range drills and Bot matches so new players can learn without queue pressure. This page explains how each mode works, which maps they use, how they tie into SP progression, and the order Nexon expects you to graduate from bots to live bomb lobbies.
Director Kim Tae-hyun’s dev notes emphasize fast round tempo: maps are designed so players reach the main combat zone within roughly ten seconds of round start, with meaningful control while firing on the move. That design favors modes where positioning and trades decide outcomes — not long loot phases or extraction timers.
Mode overview at Early Access
| Mode | Type | Map pool | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Bomb Defusal | Round-based PvP | 4 bomb layouts | Competitive progression, Victory events |
| Team Deathmatch | Respawn PvP | 2 CQB maps (e.g. Folk Village) | Aim warm-up, Playtime events |
| Practice | Solo range | Shooting range | Recoil, ADS, sensitivity tuning |
| Bot TDM / Bot Bomb | PvE-style bots | Same as live pools | Safe map learning before matchmaking |
Nexon confirmed Metro as a Bomb Defusal map and Folk Village as a Team Deathmatch map in Dev Note #7; additional launch layouts include City Cat and legacy remaster arenas covered on Bomb Defusal Maps and TDM Maps.
Bomb Defusal — flagship mode
Bomb Defusal is the mode Sudden Attack built its reputation on. Attackers plant at a bombsite; defenders defuse or eliminate the attack before time expires. Rounds are short, economy swings matter, and voice comms pay off on dual-site maps.
Why queue it: Highest skill ceiling, best alignment with Events & Rewards Victory tracks, and the path most clans will scrim on when Season 1 social tools arrive.
Learn first: Bomb Defusal Guide for round flow, then Bomb Defusal Maps for site defaults.
Map examples: Metro (official Dev Note name) plus three additional bomb arenas at EA — four total in the live client.
Team Deathmatch — CQB aim lab
Team Deathmatch strips objectives down to eliminations. Early Access ships two close-quarters maps optimized for fast trades; Folk Village is the TDM map Nexon showcased in developer videos alongside weapon additions such as the SCAR, SVD, and P90.
Why queue it: Fastest way to test Weapon Customization parts, trial characters from the Characters roster, and stack Playtime event minutes without plant pressure.
Learn first: Team Deathmatch Guide for mode rules and queue etiquette, then TDM Maps for lane control.
Practice mode — recoil laboratory
Practice is a solo shooting-range space where you test primaries and secondaries without respawn timers or scoreboards. Nexon raised the client FPS cap to 200 FPS after Steam Next Fest feedback; Practice is the right place to confirm your frame cap and sensitivity before live play.
Why use it: Every attachment change from Weapon Parts should be validated here for ten minutes before you spend SP on duplicates in the Black Market.
Learn first: Practice & Bots for structured warm-up blocks.
Bot matches — curriculum before chaos
Dev Note #7 added bot mode explicitly for onboarding. Bot Team Deathmatch and Bot Bomb Defusal mirror live map geometry and round rules while removing social pressure during launch-week congestion.
Why use bots: Learn plant UI, defuse timing, and spawn lines on Metro, Folk Village, and other launch maps without feeding experienced stacks on day one.
Graduation rule: Move to live queues when you can name both bomb sites on every defusal map and control one primary’s spray at mid range — checklist on Practice & Bots.
How modes connect to progression
All live PvP modes feed the same account progression:
- SP (Sudden Points) from match completion and wins — spend via Items and Black Market.
- Weapon parts unlocked through account and weapon progression — plan builds in the Loadout Planner.
- Events on saz.nexon.com: Nexon’s FAQ states you are automatically entered into Check-in, Playtime, and Victory events by playing; the event icon appears at the top of the lobby screen.
Bot matches may not count toward Victory tiers — always read the active event text on Events & Rewards before assuming credit.
Recommended mode order for new players
- Practice (15 min) — sensitivity and one primary.
- Bot TDM (15 min) — spawns on TDM maps.
- Bot Bomb (20 min) — plants on all four defusal layouts.
- Live TDM (1–2 matches) — human timing on Folk Village or the second CQB map.
- Live Bomb Defusal — full Getting Started loop.
Returning Sudden Attack veterans can skip to live bomb after one TDM warm-up if muscle memory returns quickly.
Modes arriving later
The 2026 Roadmap schedules Vampire Mode in Season 2 plus additional maps and weapons across Seasons 1–3. Clans arrive with Season 1 planning — prep on Clans. None of these replace bomb or TDM at launch; they extend the live-service year.

Sudden Attack Zero Point is not trying to be every genre at once. Master the four launch modes in order — Practice, bots, TDM, bomb — and you will arrive in Early Access lobbies with map knowledge and recoil discipline instead of launch-week confusion.
