Sudden Attack Zero Point Bomb Defusal Map Tactics
Site defaults, mid control, and clutch defuses for SAZ's four launch arenas.
Bomb Defusal is the signature mode of Sudden Attack Zero Point — a round-based attack/defense format where one team plants at a bombsite and the other defuses or eliminates the attackers before time expires. Early Access launches with four bomb maps tuned for fast trades, short rotate times, and high-stakes economy swings. Official map names may change between the final closed beta and the July 29–30, 2026 Steam release; the tactics below use proven CQB bomb-map language you can apply regardless of final branding.
Pair this page with the Bomb Defusal Guide for mode rules and the Maps hub for how TDM layouts differ.
Universal bomb-map principles in SAZ
Before map-specific notes, internalize how Nexon’s remaster handles rounds:
- Fast TTK — Wide swings lose to pre-aimed narrow angles. Clear one angle at a time.
- Dual-site pressure — Defaulting both sites forces defenders to split; committing too early lets lurkers pinch.
- Sound discipline — Footsteps and reload audio carry in tight corridors. Shift-walk before late-round flanks.
- Economy linkage — Winning pistol and first rifle rounds snowballs utility advantage. See Black Market for how SP rewards interact with event crates.
Callouts below use generic labels (A site, B site, mid, long, short, connector) until Nexon publishes official radar names.
Map 1 — Dual-site split (fast A / slow B archetype)
Attack plan: Send two players to apply light pressure on A long while three players default mid and B short. If defenders stack A, hit B with a coordinated flash entry. If B looks empty early, fake B noise and rotate to A catwalk before defenders reposition.
Defense plan: One anchor on A with line-of-sight to long, one flexible rotator in mid, one B anchor who can call for help without over-peeking. Avoid triple-stacking one site before you have info — SAZ’s rotate times punish greedy stacks.
Clutch tip: As attacker with bomb, plant for post-plant cover — a spot where you can hide from the default defuse line while still hearing the tap. As defender, tap defuse only when you have trade backup or a timing read on the last alive.
Map 2 — Mid-centric vertical control
Attack plan: Mid control is the round win condition. Take mid with two players using staggered peeks, then split to A or B through top and bottom connectors. If mid is contested, smoke or flash (per your loadout) and rush the weaker site with numbers.
Defense plan: Contest mid early with one aggressive duelist and one support holding an off-angle. Losing mid without a trade gives attackers free site splits. Retake through connector flashes rather than running open mid late-round.
Clutch tip: Last alive defender should play time — hide in a crossfire angle that forces the planter to check two entries sequentially.
Map 3 — Long yard / open pick map
Attack plan: This layout punishes running gung-ho. Use long yard pressure with one AWPer or rifle holding angle while others creep short or underpass. Coordinate a cross onto yard before committing the bomb carrier.
Defense plan: Hold yard with a long-range primary; pair with a close-quarters player on short to trade. Do not both peek yard simultaneously — stagger jiggle peeks to gather info without donating two kills.
Clutch tip: Attackers planting open yard should use the box or crate line (map-dependent) to block default sightlines from CT spawn.
Map 4 — Interior stack / door-heavy CQB
Attack plan: Treat every door as a potential off-angle. Slice the pie — open doors slowly while clearing corners incrementally. SMG or shotgun builds from Weapon Customization excel here if you can afford close-range entries.
Defense plan: Play contact angles — close enough to hear steps, far enough to fall back to a teammate. One aggressive push mid-round can steal info but never push alone without a trade partner.
Clutch tip: Sound fake by tapping shift near one site while the bomb plants opposite — viable only when the last defender is low HP and time is tight.
Attack roles that travel across all four maps
| Role | Job on every bomb map |
|---|---|
| Entry | First contact; opens space with flash or trade |
| Support | Second through door; refrags entry |
| Lurker | Cuts rotates; punishes defender stacks |
| IGL / caller | Calls defaults, reads mid info, commits site |
| Anchor (defense) | Holds site; calls rotate timing |
Characters do not alter these roles at launch — pick operators you can read quickly in firefights. See Characters for roster overview and Tier List for community rankings.
Post-plant and retake fundamentals
Post-plant (attack): Play crossfires from two off-angles. One player watches defuse line; one watches the most common retake path. Do not both hunt the last defender if time favors you.
Retake (defense): Enter with utility if available; otherwise use trade chains — first player dies for info, second refrags, third defuses. On SAZ’s fast TTK, solo hero retakes rarely work without a numbers advantage.
Practice routine before ranked-style queues
- Bot Bomb Defusal on each map — Learn plant spots and default defender positions.
- Review deaths — Note whether you lost to angle, timing, or economy force-buys.
- Test builds — Use the Loadout Planner to match weapon parts to each map’s range bands.
- Stack comms — Agree on callout names with friends on Discord before go-live.
When names and layouts update
Nexon may rename maps or adjust sightlines during Early Access. We will update this page when official radar strings appear in patch notes — follow Updates and the 2026 Roadmap for scheduled content drops including new maps in Seasons 1–3.
Until then, mastering these four archetypes prepares you for any SAZ bomb arena: split sites, mid control, long picks, and interior stacks. That foundation transfers directly when the live service adds fresh layouts later in the year.
Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers to the most common Sudden Attack Zero Point questions.
What are the exact names of the four bomb maps?
Nexon has confirmed four Bomb Defusal maps at Early Access but final client names may change after beta feedback. Use the archetype tactics on this page until official callouts appear in patch notes on Updates.
How long is a bomb round in Sudden Attack Zero Point?
Round timers follow classic SA bomb-defusal pacing — fast enough that mid control matters every round. Full mode rules and economy are in the Bomb Defusal Guide.
Which weapons work best on bomb maps?
Map-dependent: rifles for long-yard maps, SMGs for interior stacks. Build around your role using Weapon Customization and validate parts in the Loadout Planner.
Can I practice bomb maps without live players?
Yes. Early Access includes practice mode and bot Bomb Defusal. Setup steps are in Getting Started.
Will more bomb maps release in 2026?
The 2026 Roadmap adds new maps across pre-season and Seasons 1–3. Bookmark Updates for patch-day summaries.
