Getting Started in Sudden Attack Zero Point

Sudden Attack Zero Point is Nexon’s free-to-play remaster of the 2005 classic Sudden Attack, rebuilt as a modern tactical FPS on Steam. Early Access targets July 29–30, 2026 (Steam app 3576070). At launch you get Bomb Defusal and Team Deathmatch, 10 characters, 13 primary and 4 secondary weapons, practice mode, bot matches (see Practice & Bots), and a deep customization system with 200+ exclusive and 36 shared weapon parts. This guide is your day-one checklist before you queue ranked-style bomb rounds or touch the Black Market.

Install and account setup

  1. Open the Steam store page and add Sudden Attack Zero Point to your library.
  2. Link or create a Nexon account when prompted — the same account powers saz.nexon.com events and cross-platform rewards.
  3. Accept the Nexon Game Security kernel anti-cheat install. SAZP requires it for multiplayer; without it you can still use practice and bot modes in most builds, but you cannot join live servers.
  4. Run the first-launch graphics benchmark, cap FPS slightly below your monitor refresh, and enable the shooting-range toggle in settings if available.

Default controls and settings

Sudden Attack Zero Point follows standard PC FPS bindings: WASD move, Shift sprint, Ctrl crouch, Space jump, Mouse1 fire, Mouse2 aim, R reload, G grenade, B buy menu (between rounds in bomb), Tab scoreboard. Rebind crouch and walk to keys you can hit without lifting your index finger from D — crouch-peeking corners wins duels in this game.

Recommended settings for new players:

  • Sensitivity: low enough to track heads at medium range; test in practice before changing mid-match.
  • Crosshair: static, contrasting color; bomb mode punishes spam through smoke.
  • Audio: prioritize footsteps and plant/defuse cues over music volume.
  • Field of view: use the maximum allowed if you come from arena shooters — SAZP angles are tight on legacy maps.

Spend fifteen minutes in practice mode testing each primary’s recoil. You do not need every attachment unlocked to learn spray patterns.

Bomb Defusal is the main progression path. Read the full Bomb Defusal guide once you understand planting timers and economy. TDM on the two CQB maps is the fastest way to trial characters before you buy parts for them in Weapon Customization.

Pick your first character and loadout

Ten launch characters fill roles from entry fragger to support. You do not need the “best” pick day one — you need one kit whose grenades and passive fit how you aim. Check the Tier List for current rankings, then buy a single reliable primary (often an AR or SMG depending on patch) instead of spreading SP across five guns.

Starter loadout principles:

  • One primary you can afford to mod later.
  • One secondary for eco rounds — pistols matter when you lose two bomb plants in a row.
  • Utility before cosmetics: a flash or smoke part often beats a skin in clutch rounds.

How to earn SP (Sudden Points)

SP is the main currency for weapon parts and Black Market trades. Early Access sources include:

  • Match completion and wins in bomb and TDM.
  • Daily and event rewards — see Events & Rewards for Check-in, Playtime, and Victory tracks on saz.nexon.com.
  • Selling duplicate parts on the Black Market once you understand rarity.

Do not burn SP on expensive trades until you have twenty-plus hours and know which parts your main weapon uses. Farm events first; they are the safest income during launch chaos.

Your first bomb defusal match

Queue bot bomb defusal if available, then matchmaking:

  1. Buy phase: match weapon to range — SMG for close sites, rifle for long angles on legacy layouts.
  2. Attack: stick with a teammate for trades; solo pushes feed defenders holding one-taps.
  3. Plant: default plants exist on every bomb map; learn one safe plant per site from the Bomb Defusal guide.
  4. Defense: play retake positions, not hero holds on open angles.
  5. Post-round: note who died to which angles; adjust utility next buy.

Winning rounds matters more than K/D for learning. A 4–12 scoreline where you clutched one defuse teaches more than a TDM stomp.

Practice routine (30 minutes)

  1. 5 min — practice range, one primary, burst then spray control.
  2. 10 min — bot TDM on a CQB map, test character ability timing.
  3. 15 min — bot or low-pressure bomb, call plants aloud even if muted.

Repeat daily until recoil is muscle memory, then invest SP in parts from Weapon Customization.

What to do after day one

Sudden Attack Zero Point rewards patience and crosshair discipline more than raw flick speed. Use practice and bots liberally; live servers during launch week will be chaotic, and SP is easier to earn when you are not dying to map quirks you have never seen.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to the most common Sudden Attack Zero Point questions.

Is Sudden Attack Zero Point free on Steam?

Yes. It is free-to-play on Steam (app 3576070). Optional cosmetics and some convenience items may cost money, but core bomb and TDM play plus SP progression are free. See Early Access for launch details.

Do I need Nexon Game Security anti-cheat to play?

Yes for live multiplayer. Nexon Game Security is a kernel-level anti-cheat required for matchmaking. Install it during first setup. Practice and bot modes may work without it depending on the build — check Early Access for the latest policy.

What is the fastest way to earn SP as a new player?

Stack official events (Check-in, Playtime, Victory) from Events & Rewards with daily match rewards. Avoid expensive Black Market buys until you know part values from Weapon Customization.

Should beginners play bomb defusal or TDM first?

Run practice, then TDM on CQB maps for aim, then bot bomb before live bomb defusal. TDM teaches gunfights; Bomb Defusal rules are easier once you can win duels.

How many weapons and characters are in Early Access?

Launch includes 13 primary weapons, 4 secondary weapons, and 10 characters. Customization uses 200+ exclusive parts plus 36 shared attachments — overview in Weapon Customization.

Where can I watch a hands-on overview before playing?
